Education in Bangalore

Bangalore, now the " Silicon Valley of India" has rich history of Educational Institutes and systems.

Indian Institute of science (IISc), a premier institute of India for its quality of research,was established way back in 1909 conceived from the idea of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata. The renowned students and faculty are The Nobel Laureate Sir C.V. Raman, Homi Bhaba, G. N. Ramachandran, Harish Chandra, S. Ramaseshan, Brahm Prakash, A. Ramachandran, C.N.R.Rao and R. Narasimha.

Today's University of Agricultural Sciences of Bangalore was established in 1899 as an Experimental Agricultural Station. With the increasing reputation for its contribution, it became Mysore Agricultural College offering various courses. 1n 1964, it became a full fledged University.

Prestigious Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore (IIM-B) was established in 1973. Today, it ranks one of the best management institution in the world, contributes enormously to the Modern Indian Industrial growth.

The latest addition to the Bangalore's educational map are National Law School of India University, which is the best law school of India and The Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB) offering post graduate programmers on Bioinformatics, Biotechniques, Cheminformatics and Advanced Diploma in Organic Synthesis.

Bangalore boasts some of the most renowned and oldest schools of India. The most famous school in Bangalore is Bishop Cotton established in 1865. Cathedral High School was founded in 1966. Baldwin High School, named after a philanthropist, John Baldwin of Berea, Ohio, U.S.A, established in 1878. St .Joseph's Boys High School was established in 1904 whose history can be traced back to 1840's. Another famous school is National High School established in 1917, whose Alumni were famous cricketer Anil Kumble,Chandrashekar and Film Actor Ramesh Aravind.

With the ever increasing demand for quality education, in the recent past, many International schools were established. amongst them, the most renowned are Greenwood High School, PRIMUS Public School, The International School Bangalore (TISB), Jain International Residential School (JIRS), Inventure Academy, Ryan International School, Vibgyor High and TREAMIS World School.
